Changing Category Names?

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Whilst changing category names is possible, these elements are what connect your website to Promodata. Altering the wrong data will break that connection.

We highly recommend leaving these settings to someone with the right technical know-how—like your web developer.

Please note: Promodata cannot be held responsible for website sync errors or disruptions caused by manual changes to these core settings.

To align your website with your own business language, you can absolutely change the display names of categories and sub-categories as needed.

However, to keep your sync running perfectly, there are a few strict rules to keep in mind:

  • ⚠️ Please DO NOT change the category SLUG.
  • ⚠️ Please DO NOT move sub-categories into different parent categories.

These structural pieces are what connect your website to Promodata, and changing them will break the connection. We highly recommend leaving these settings to someone with the right technical know-how—like your web developer.

You can find your categories in the main admin menu on the left of the screen under Products > Categories.

When you hover over a category or sub-category name, you will see two ways to edit it…

…the easiest way is simply selecting Quick Edit to change the name.
