Access Types – View Only or Edit
Depending on how your product data is supplied, you will have 1 of 2 Portal Access types.
- View Only
- Edit
Once your data loads, you will see a list of all items currently in Promodata. On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll see two icons. Their functions vary slightly depending on your access type:
View Only Access (For API-Integrated Suppliers)
If your product data is maintained via an API connection, you’ll want to keep your feed as the single “source of truth”. For this reason, any changes made within the Portal cannot be saved.

This shows you an example of the selected product data available to distributors. Please note that how each distributor chooses to present this data—whether in full or in part—is entirely up to them. (v3 fields are currently not in the data feed)
Edit

When entering Edit mode as an API-connected supplier, you will see a read-only message at the top of the window. This is a reminder that changes cannot be saved here; if you need to update your data, please do so at the source of your API.

Why provide Edit mode if I can’t save? – We’ve given you access to this mode so you can see every available field within Promodata. This allows you to audit your feed and ensure you’re providing as much information as possible to your customers.
*** Please read this Important Note on altering/updating your API data structure. ***
Edit Access (For CSV-Based (Non API) Suppliers)
This access type is designed to simplify data management for suppliers who currently manage their information via CSV spreadsheets.

Edit

Entering Edit mode for a specific item allows you to make full updates whenever necessary—even if it’s just for a single product.
Pro-Tip for Saving: Product info is organised into tabs to keep things tidy. To be safe, we recommend clicking Save before moving from one tab to the next
A Quick Note on “Going Live”: Once you save your edits, they are live in Promodata immediately. From there, they’ll be ready for distributors to pull in their next update cycle. (Timing varies—some update nightly, while others do so weekly).
